On December 6, 1947, Everglades National Park was dedicated by President Harry S. Truman for what he called "The Enrichment of the Human Spirit". Beginning December 6, 1996, the state of Florida, the nation and the world was invited to participate in a year-long, special series of events -- including historical exhibits, tours and lectures that travelled through nine Florida cities.
This site followed the events and activites during that year long celebration.
The photos and information at this site will remain online in honor of the 50th Anniversary.
